Star Indian pugilist Vijender Singh has advanced to the second round of the World Boxing Championships at Almaty, Kazakhstan. In his opening round bout yesterday, Vijender out-punched Sweden's Hampus Henriksson, 3-0 in the 75kg category. Vijender has a tough bout in the next round, as he will be up against European Champion and World Number seven Jason Quigley of Ireland. The duo will square off tomorrow. Vijender had opened India's medal account in the mega event with a bronze in 2009 and this is his fourth appearance at the biennial event. Two other Indian boxers, who have cleared the first-round hurdle after winning their opening bouts in the ongoing event, are Vikash Malik in 60kg and Asian Championships silver-medallist Mandeep Jangra in 69kg category. Two Indian boxers will take to the ring today. Manpreet Singh starts his campaign against Keddy Agnes of Seychelles and Manoj Kumar battles it out against Fatih Keles of Turkey in his opening bout.
