Afghanistan's National Taekwondo Team has bagged two bronze medals at the Polish Open Cup Championship in Warsaw yesterday. Ahmad Nawid Zahir and Fraidoon Amiri won third place in their respective weight categories. The competition which began in Polish capital on August 31 concluded yesterday. Players from 36 countries participated in it. Ravaged by prolonged war and strife, people of Afghanistan have not lost their interest in sports and games. During the past decade Afghan athletes and sports persons have won laurels in several sporting events including taekwondo which is a popular martial art in Afghanistan. Afghan taekwondo practitioner Rohullah Nikpai won bronze medals in 2008 Beijing Olympics and London Olympics last year.
