The Sports Ministry has welcomed the Indian Olympic Association's (IOA) decision to accept age and tenure guidelines as the national Olympic body agreed to amend its constitution to bring it in line with the Sports Code. The IOA has agreed to all the other amendments proposed by the International Olympic Committee, except the chargesheet clause on tainted officials in a Special General Body Meeting held in New Delhi, yesterday. The IOA opposed the chargesheet clause, and said it should apply to only convicted persons. It means that only those who are held guilty by a court for a jail term of two or more years will not be able to contest elections.
