Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said that the economic growth of the nation will reach 6 per cent in this fiscal.Inaugurating the 2,110th branch of Indian Bank at Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, he said that India has retained the second position as fastest growing economic powers in the world.Chidambaram said that 8000 new bank branches will be opened this year.More than 50,000 persons will get job opportunities in banks he added.He said that more than 50,000 people were given educational loans this year and Rs. 36,000 crore as loans to women Self help groups.The Minister urged people to utilize bank facilities properly. He disbursed Rs. 1.5 crore loans to 150 beneficiaries.
