The country's steel producity has increased to around 90 million tonnes in 2012 which was just 66 million tonnes in 2009. The Steel Minister Mr Beni Prasad Verma said this while chairing the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to his Ministry in New Delhi on wednesday. He said, the Crude Steel production has also grown by over four per cent in 2012. The meeting also deliberated on the global and domestic steel scenario, functioning of Steel Authority of India Limited and and its performance on various parameters.
