In Bihar, defying Maoists' threat, a large number of people exercised their franchise during the second phase of assembly elections. AIR correspondent reports that around 53 per cent polling has been recorded in this phase. 45 constituencies went to polls in this phase on Sunday.Briefing the media in New Delhi last evening, Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi said that 52.5 per cent electorates cast their votes till 5 PM and many more were in queues to exercise their franchise. This, he said, is bound to increase the poll percentage.Mr. Zutshi said, the voting was by and large peaceful barring some stray incidents. He said, people boycotted polling at four places in Dharbangha, Sitamarhi and Samastipur districts to register their protest against the lack of development in the area.
