Adding yet another feather to his cap, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar will be conferred the membership to the Order of Australia today in Mumbai. The award is being conferred on him by Simon Crean, Australia's Minister for Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government and Minister for the Arts. Earlier, during her visit to India last month, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard had announced that the iconic Indian Cricketer would be conferred the membership of the Order of Australia. During her visit, she had said that this is a very special honour, very rarely awarded to someone who is not an Australian citizen or an Australian national. She added that Sachin is as admired in Australia as he is in India. The Batting legend will become the second Indian to get the honour after former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee. Mr Sorabjee was made an Honorary Member of the Order of Australia for service to Australia-India bilateral legal relations in 2006.
