The auction of 5 percent of Government's ONGC share have fetched an average price of 303.67 rupees for a share. The Finance Ministry said this is 4.71 per cent higher than the reserve price in the auction, which garnered over 12,766 crore rupees. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had earlier said the the government has decided to study the auction process before going ahead with stake sale of other companies. He said ONGC auction is the first case. It should be analysed before making an assessment.
