Indian pugilists Akhil Kumar, Devendro Singh Laishram, Jai Bhagwan and Manpreet Singh will today slug it out in the second round of their respective categories at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Azerbaijan.Akhil Kumar will take on John Joe Nevin of Ireland in the Men's 56 kilogram Bantamweight category, while Devendro Laishram will face Mexican Joselito Velazquez Altamirano in the 46-49 kilogram light weight division. In the 60 kilogram light weight section, Jai Bhagwan will play Miroslav Serban of Czechoslovakia. Manpreet Singh, on the other hand, will meet Dzhakon Qurbanov of Tajikistan in the 91 kilogram heavy weight category.Yesterday, Manoj Kumar and Dinesh Kumar stormed into the pre-quarterfinals of the 64 kilogram light welterweight and 81 kilogram light heavyweight categories respectively.
