The talented footballers of Kashmir can now think of practising during winter season as the central government has sanctioned 6 crore rupees for laying an artificial turf at the TRC Stadium at Srinagar .Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council secretary Kiran Wattal told reporters that the turf will be laid within next three months to ensure that the footballers can continue their training even during intense winter months. He said the turf will be of international quality. Wattal stated that Council has fast tracked the work to ensure that it is completed before onset of winter. Football is one of the most popular sports in Kashmir which has produced some of the top players for the country including Abdul Majid Kakroo, Mehrajuddin Wadoo and Ishfaq Ahmed. However, players from the valley had to move to other places of the country to continue training during winters as snowfall would not allow any practice.
