India's Tintu Luka has entered the women's 800m semifinals of the World Athletics Championships at Daegu in South Korea. Tintu Luka clocked 2 minutes 01.89 seconds to finish sixth in heat number four, which was enough for her to make it to Friday's semifinals. Tintu Luka from Kerala state is the national record holder in the event and being coached by veteran Athlete P.T Usha. Russia's European champion Mariya Savinova won heats event pipping defending champion Caster Semenya of South Africa in a photo finish for the same timing. Meanwhile, India's shot putter Om Prakash failed to qualify for the final round after finishing 12th in Group A qualification round and finished 23rd overall with a throw of 19.29metres. National record holder triple jumper Renjith Maheswary will also compete tomorrow. India are being represented by eight athletes in the World Championships.
