In Mizoram, about 52 per cent polling was recorded till 3 PM for the lone Lok Sabha seat and by-poll to the Hrangturzo Assembly seat. During the day long queues were seen in some polling stations in Aizawl with voters waiting for their turn to cast their vote. Polling in the state will continue upto 5 p.m. Voting in the state was scheduled for Wednesday but it was postponed for today.
The main contest is between ruling Congress nominee and sitting MP C. L. Ruala and his main rival Robert Romawia Royte, an independent candidate sponsored by the United Democratic Front -UDF, an 8 party opposition alliance. Aam Admi Party has fielded former Mizoram Chief Secretary of the state and a retired IAS officer Lal Man Zuala.
