In West Bengal about 52 percent voters turn out was recorded for bye-election in South Kolkata Parliamentary Constituency. The voting was passed off peacefully without any major untoward incident. State Chief Electoral officer Sunil Gupta said that the voting percentage is likely to go up as many voters were in the queue till late evening. He said that, about 20 electronic voting machines were replaced from different polling booths for technical snag. Altogether five candidates contested the election. The seat was fallen vacant due to resignation of Mamata Banerjee after getting elected in the State Assembly.
