52 awards in various categories will be presented for promoting the use of Hindi on Hindi Divas Wednesday. It was on this day, Hindi was adopted as a language for official transaction by the constitution in 1949. President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil will give away the Indira Gandhi Maulik Pustak Lekhan Puraskar, and the Rajeev Gandhi Gyan-Vigyan Maulik Pustak-Lekhan Puraskar in New Delhi.

These awards are given for excellence in the field of implementation of Official Language Policy, original Hindi Book-Writing and Hindi book-writing on subjects of Science and Technology. This year, a new sub-category has been added by the Science and Technology Ministry to promote the use of Hindi language in the field of Science and Technology.

The Indian Institute of Public Administration is also organizing a lecture in hindi, to tackle the menace of corruption to mark the significance of the day.
