In Wimbledon, while top seeds in the Gentlemen's singles competition stormed their way into the quarterfinals of this prestigious tournament, top-seeded lady Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark along with the experienced Williams sisters of the United States made a shock exit in the ladies singles event. In the fourth round of gentlemen's singles, Spain's World Number 1 Rafael Nadal defeated Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina 7-6, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 while Switzerland's Roger Federer beat Michael Youzhny of Russia 6-7, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. Serb Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray of Great Britain also won their respective matches. In Ladies singles, Caroline Woziacki of Demnark lost to Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia 6-1, 6-7, 5-7. Marion Bartoli of France defeated Serena Williams in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 and Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria beat Venus Williams 6-2, 6-3. Russian Maria Sharapova won her match against China's Shuai Peng. Meanwhile in the mixed doubles event, the Indo-Russian pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Elena Vesnina advanced to the third round beating the Australian combine of Stephen Huss and Anastasia Rodionova, 6-2, 7-6. In the Quarterfinals of the Ladies Singles event, Sabine Lisicki of Germany will today clash with Marion Bartoli of France while Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia will play Russia's Maria Sharapova. In the mixed doubles, the Indian combine of Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza will play the Aussie-German combine of Jamie Murray and Jarmila Gajdosova in the second round.
