The production at the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar facility continues to be completely stopped as the workers' strike at the plant entered its eighth day today. Around 2,000 workers at the plant have been on strike since last Saturday, resulting in a production loss of about 6,600 units till yesterday. The value of the loss is estimated to be around 330 crore rupees. On Friday, the Haryana government imposed a ban on the strike and referred the matter to a labour court.The move comes amid threats of the week-long stir spreading to the Gurgaon-Manesar industrial belt. Senior CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta today met Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and urged him to take necessary steps to solve the issue amicably.
