President, Vice President and Prime Minister led the nation in hailing the Indian cricket team's World Cup triumph. In a message to Captain MS Dhoni, President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said the road to success has been long and hard and Indian side was tested at every stage. She has also invited the team for tea at Raj Bhawan in Mumbai today. Vice President Hamid Ansari said that this victory will go down as one of the most memorable events of Indian sport. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, the team has shown the world that India is at the top of the game of cricket. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said the victory of the Indian team will be etched in gold for generations to come. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said it is reflective of their steely determination and hard work that India has been crowned with the World Cup. Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said the cricket team has done the country proud. Senior BJP leader L K Advani said that he regards it as a wonderful day and a wonderful occasion for the nation. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said he is very happy that India has become the world champions again. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the win as a stunning victory.
