Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma today called on the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka. During the meeting, Sheikh Hasina said that her government wants to continue its effort along with other neighboring countries to alleviate poverty from the South Asian region. The two leaders discussed various bilateral issues related to trade and economic relations between the two countries. Later, Mr. Anand Sharma left for Delhi on the conclusion of his two day visit to Bangladesh.Earlier, Mr. Anand Sharma met his Bangladeshi counterpart Mr. Faruk Khan and also held delegation-level talks. He also held discussions with the Bangladesh Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr.Abdur Razzaque and Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni.During his discussions Mr. Anand Sharma stressed on the need for further strengthening economic relations between the two countries. He also added that Indian private sector companies are in the process of making investments worth US dollars 3.5 billion which would generate employment and also value addition for Bangladesh exports to the rest of the world.
