Union Commerce and Industries Minister Anand Sharma who is in Dhaka on a two day visit on Saturday will call on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sunday morning. Earlier, India and Bangladesh decided to jointly inaugurate the border Haat trade by June this year following the delegation level talks held between the Indian delegation led by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and the Bangladesh delegation led by his counterpart Faruk Khan. Addressing a joint press conference at the end of the talks, Faruk Khan said that India has agreed to increase duty free export quota for readymade garments from Bangladesh to ten million pieces from the present eight million pieces for this year. India has also agreed to remove the counter availing duty on Jute exports from Bangladesh. Mr. Anand Sharma said that India has provided a draft for the modalities of transit trade through Chittagong and Mongla Port. He expressed the hope that the two countries will be able to resolve issues relating to transit trade soon. He also said that India is ready to provide three lakh tonnes of rice and two lakh tonnes of wheat to Bangladesh.
