Forward Surinder Kaur has been retained skipper of the Indian Women's Hockey team for the forthcoming World Cup and the Commonwealth Games. Following selection trials held at the National Institute of Sports in Patiala, the teams for both events were declared yesterday. Arjuna awardee Surinder became captain of the Indian squad in July 2008 and since then she has led India to gold in the Champions Challenge Trophy in 2009, silver in 2010 Asia Cup and bronze in the recently held Asian Champions Trophy.
