The Queen Baton relay for Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010 reached in Uttar Pradesh today. The baton relay entered in Bareilly district in the late afternoon after covering Uttarakhand, the baton relay was welcomed at Baheri tehasil of Bareilly district. UP principal secretary sports Lalit Varma and Arjuna awardee shooter Satinder Kumar are among the first batch of eminent persons who welcome the baton relay. Thousands of people including school children were there to welcome the commonwealth torch. Several sports personalities including noted former hockey players Mohd. Yakub Kuraeshi, Geeta Sharma and film actor Rajpal Yadav and many others are taking part in Queens Baton welcome programmes being organized in several spots like in SR Medical college, sports Stadium and University premises. The baton will leave for Shajahanpur tomorrow before reaching state capital Lucknow.The Queen's Baton had arrived in India from Pakistan via the Wagah border on June 25. The baton will cover most states and union territories, travelling a distance of over 20,000 km, before finally reaching New Delhi.
