Sourav Vig of Delhi bagged the gold in the mens shot put event at the 50th National Open Athletics Meet which began in Ernakulam on Saturday. Ranjith Maheshwari of the Railways created a new meet record in the mens triple jump event last evening. Ranjith, who cleared 16.97 meters, bettered his earlier meet record of 16.68 meters set in Bhopal last year. In the womens 400 meter hurdles, Ashwini of Karnataka won the gold, while Joseph Abraham of Railways topped in the mens event. Seema Antil of Haryana in womens Discus throw and S Saranya of Tamil Nadu in women's Pole Vault bagged the top honours. In the women's hammer throw event, Gunjan Singh of the Railways bagged gold.
