Four New Meet Records were created in the opening day of the seventh National Youth Athletics Championship (under-18) at the Nehru Stadium Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. M.Thavaraj of Tamil Nadu created a New Meet Record in the 110m Hurdles event for boys with a time of 14.31 seconds. He broke the record of 14.44 seconds established by Saba Bhagat Mah of Maharashtra in May 2009.In the 100m run for girlsRanjita Mahanta of Orissa set a new record of 12.20 seconds. She broke the record of 12.35 second created by Sabina Khatun of West Bengal in 2004. Sukhadev Singh of Haryana set a new record in the Hammer Throw for boys event by throwing a distance of 65.90 meters.Arjun of Delhi also set a New Meet Record in the Discuss throw for boys event by throwing a distance of 64.09 meters. In the medal tally Mahrashtra is leading with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
