Abdul Majeed Qureshi of Andhra Pradesh struck gold in the men's 100 meters event at the 50th National Open Athletic Championship being held at the Maharajas College Ground in Kochi this evening. In the women's 100 meter race Sharda Narayanan of Railways bagged gold. In the men's decathlon, Vinod P I of Kerala and in the mens 800 meter event S Prakash Verma of the Railways clinched the top honours.In the womens shot put, Manpreet Kaur of Railways, and Gayathri of Tamil Nadu in the womens triple jump event cornered the top slots. Tintu Luka of Kerala bagged gold in the womens 800 meter event.Railways is leading the medal tally with 8 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals.
