50th meeting of border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh concludes in Dhaka

<span style="color: #222222;">The 50th meeting of border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh, Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh concluded in Dhaka today. The biannual meeting discussed the issues related to India-Bangladesh border management and security.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The BSF and BGB agreed for real time sharing of intelligence to reduce criminal activities on the border. Several other important issues were also discussed during the meeting. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR Correspondent reports that the DG level meeting between BSF and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) took several important decisions to safeguard the India-Bangladesh border. Both the countries have agreed to resume the joint coordinated border patrolling to reduce criminal activities like smuggling of cattle, weapons and narcotics on the border.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Recognizing the increasingly violent attacks on the border guarding forces, India and Bangladesh agreed for real time sharing of intelligence on smuggling syndicates and list of smugglers to ensure that the border remains peaceful and secure.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">They also agreed to take effective steps for the prevention of human trafficking and illegal crossing of the International Border (IB). Bangladesh reassured India that it will not allow any Indian Insurgent Groups (IIGs) to use its soil for anti-India activities.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Responding to concerns about the border deaths, BSF reiterated its policy of use of non-lethal weapons. DG, BSF, Rakesh Asthana said that BSF that criminals have no nationality and more than 50 BSF personnel have also been injured by criminals in the current year. He assured Bangladesh that BSF has been instructed to resort to firing only as the last resort.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">BSF also welcomed the suggestion of BGB that daily passes should be issued for people residing in bordering villages so that they can visit their relatives. It was agreed that the next round of the DG level conference will be held at Guwahati preferably within the 2nd week of November. </span><br />''
