Bangladesh is gearing up to host the South Asian Football Federation Championship from December 4th this year. Unveiling the logo for the Championship in Dhaka last evening, Bangladesh football federation President Kazi Salahuddin said the tournament will be called Bangabandhu SAFF Championship in honour of Sheikh Mujibir Rehman, the Father of the Bangladesh Nation. It is the first time in the SAFF history that the regional meet has been named after a person. BTV World will telecast all the matches live from the venue. India will be playing in Group A along with defending Champions Maldives, Afghanistan and Nepal. Bangladesh will be playing in Group B along with Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bhutan. India has won the tournament four times but Maldives won against India in the last edition of SAFF Championship final by a single goal to lift the cup.
