Reversing early losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed 92 points, or 0.6 percent higher, at 16,959, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 24 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 5,027.Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore rose between 0.2 percent and 2 percent, after news that the US service sector expanded for the first time in nearly a year, in September, raised hopes of an early global economic recovery.
