In Karnataka, 435 candidates remain in fray after last day of withdrawal today. The Chief Electoral Officer in the State Anil Kumar Jha informed that 109 candidates withdrew their nominations. The JD(S) candidate from Uttara Kannada, KJP candidate from Chitradurga and JD(U) candidate from Chickballapur are among those who withdrew their nominations today. The highest of 26 candidates remain in fray from Bangalore Central constituency and the lowest of eight are contesting from Gulbarga. Speaking about MCC violations, Jha informed that complaints are received against Chickballapur Congress candidate Veerappa Moily for allegedly filing false affidavit, against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for speaking against Modi and against Mysore BJP Candidate Pratap Simha for objectionable speech. The State CEO added that 628 cases are booked till now in election related violations and an amount of cash seized is 3.35 crore rupees. 35,175 litres of liquor worth one crore 40 lakh are also seized till now.
