Congress has disapproved its Saharanpur candidate Imran Masood's life threatening remarks against BJP leader Narendra Modi. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, Congress party spokesman Randeep Surjewala Surjiwala said Congress abjures violence whether it is of language or otherwise. He said it has also asked it's workers to restrain from using objectionable remarks even against the worst critics of Congress. He said, it has sought Masood's explanation for his controversial comment.

Surjiwala also came down heavily on the the use of indecent language by Narendra Modi in his attacks on opposition parties. He said it only reveals Modi's weak personality. He said by doing this one can get some clappings but cannot win elections.

Masood's attacking remark on Modi during an election rally in Saharanpur, triggered a controversy, inviting sharp criticism from BJP, which termed the remark as inflammatory. It had also sought strict action by the Election Commission.

CPI leader Raja said Massod's remark is a serious matter and Election Commission should take action.
