Congress has disapproved its Saharanpur candidate Imran Masood's controversial remarks against BJP leader Narendra Modi. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, Congress party spokesman Randeep Surjewala said that the party abjures violence whether of language or otherwise.

Surjewala said the party has asked it's workers to restrain themselves from using objectionable remarks even against worst critics of Congress.

Masood's attacking remark on Modi during an election rally in Saharanpur, triggered a controversy, inviting sharp criticism from BJP which termed the remark as inflammatory and sought strict action by the Election Commission.
