In Karnataka, 552 candidates remain in fray for 28 Lok Sabha constituencies after scrutiny. The last day for the withdrawal of nominations is Saturday. A total of 916 nominations were filed for the single phase of polling on 17th April. The Chief Electoral Officer in the State, Anil Kumar Jha informed that 51 nominations were rejected today after the scrutiny. The highest numbers of 38 candidates are in fray from Bidar constituency and the lowest of 10 from Uttar Kannada.
The Voter Verifiable Paper Trail or VVPAT will be used for the first time in Karnataka in all the booths of Bangalore South Constituency. The facility will help voters to verify whether they have cast the vote to the candidate of their desire.
