The fractured verdict in Uttarakhand assembly polls have left both Congress and BJP perplexed. Congress has 32 while BJP has 31 seats in the House of 70 members. Congress just one more than ruling BJP, is confident of forming government.
AIR correspondent reports that a Congress delegation met on Tuesday evening Governor Margaret Alva to discuss the latest political scenario in the hill state.
Congress has claimed that party would form the Government with the support of the independents as the party finally emerged as single largest party in the election.
Party spokesman Dhirendra Pratap said that most of the independents are even former Congress members and they were close to the party ideology.
Meanwhile the BSP, which had slid from eight members to just three in the state, was being eyed by both the BJP and Congress. Meanwhile BJP is also claiming to form the Government with support of BSP and others.
In last election BJP had Secured 34 seats and form the government with support of UKD and independents.
