50% subsidy on power tariff for Delhi households consuming upto 400 units per month: Kejriwal

Delhi government has decided to give 50 per cent subsidy on power tariff for households consuming upto 400 units per month in the national capital. The subsidy will be applicable from tomorrow and it will come to end on 31st March. A decision in this regard was taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi this evening.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Mr. Kejriwal said that the move will help around 28 lakh consumers in the city. He also said that CAG is ready for auditing the power distribution companies and after examining the reply of the campiness a final decision in this regard will be taken by tomorrow evening. The Chief Minister said the tariff will also be reviewed after the audit of the three power companies.

Mr. Kejriwal said that the burden on exchequer due to this subsidy will be 200 crore rupees on paper but effectively it will be 61 crore rupees on government and rest will be given by the two power companies of BSES.
