The Director General of Assam Rifles Lt. General Karan Singh Yadav has said that 50 percent of ULFA cadres are from across the borders and are not from Assam.<br/><br/>Briefing media, on the 175th anniversary celebrations, the Assam Rifles Chief said that after the crackdown by the Bangladeshi government on terrorists and insurgents of North East, the incidence of ULFA attacks have come down considerably. <br/><br/>He said that the forthcoming visit of the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from Monday will further strengthen relations with India which will put further pressure on these militant groups.<br/><br/>He also said that 26 new Battalions of Assam rifles will be raised to check insurgency and drug trafficking from across the borders in the North East.
