In Iraq, at least 50 people including Iranians were killed today in twin gun and car bomb attacks in southern Iraq. According to the Senior Provincial Health official Jassem al-Khalidi, another 87 people were wounded in the attacks near Nasiriyah, the capital of Dhiqar province.<br/><br/>Officials said the first attack struck close to a restaurant while shortly afterwards a car bomb targeted a security checkpoint in the same area.<br/><br/>The so-called Islamic State group has said it carried out the attack. According to news agency, one report said the attackers were disguised as members of Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilisation) – a mainly Shia group that has fought alongside Iraqi forces against IS.
