50 new NCC units to come up soon

A total of 50 new National Cadet Corps, NCC units will come up soon in the remotest areas of the states. These will be raised at places like Dehradun in Uttarakhand, Jagdalpur in Chhatisgarh, Dumka in Jharkhand, Rayagada in Orissa. With these units, 2 lakh additional cadets will be added in the NCC taking the total strength to 15 lakh. Briefing reporters about the details of Republic Day NCC Camp this year in New Delhi , the Director General, Mr. R.K Karwal said, nearly 2000 cadets comprising girls and boys are participating in the camp from every nook and corner of the country.He said that in the Youth Exchange Programme aiming to increase the international exposure among youth, ten countries including Russia, Singapore, Maldives and Vietnam are participating in the camp. Mr. Karwal said that NCC cadets also take part in social service and community development programmes in rural and urban areas. NCC training instills qualities like nationalism, patriotism, discipline and leadership among the cadets.
