50 killed, over 100 injured in suicide blast at Shia procession in Quetta

In Pakistan, at least 50 people were killed and over 100 others, injured today when a suicide bomber struck a Shia procession at Quetta in southwest Pakistan. This is the latest in a wave of strikes targeting religious minorities. According to local media reports, the blast took place this afternoon when a suicide bomber blew himself at a rally at the Meezan Chowk area of the city. The rally was organized to show the support for the Palestinian people. About 2,500 people took part in the rally.The blast triggered a stampede and at least four media people who were present to cover the rally were injured. Shortly after the blast, police have cordoned off the area. All the injured people have been shifted to nearby hospitals. Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (L-e-J), a banned radical group in Pakistan has claimed responsibility for this afternoon's suicide blast in Quetta.
