At least 50 people have been killed and over 100 others injured in a bomb attack in crowded market selling hashish in north-western Pakistan. The blast occurred yesterday in the Khyber tribal region, close to the Afghan border, in an area where the Taliban is known to have a strong presence. Witnesses said the bomb had exploded in a weekly hashish market set up in the grounds of a compound used by the pro-Taliban Lashkar-e-Islam group for recruiting militants, and near a mosque.
