Entire country will be covered under the Prevention and control of cancer, diabeties and heart diseases in the next five-year Plan. Addressing the Parliamentary Consultative Committee, attached to his ministry, the Health Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that 100 districts are being covered under the programme at present.

The Health Minister said that over 50 percent deaths in the country occur due to these diseases which are non-communicable in nature. Mr. Azad asserted that early detection and timely treatment of such diseases will lead to increase in the cure rate and also reduce the risk factor.
