5 people killed in bicycle blast in WB

In West Bengal, five persons were killed and nine injured in a blast in a moving bicycle at Bajrapara locality near Jalpaiguri town last evening. Inspector General of North Bengal, Shashikant Pujara said that the explosives were kept on the bicycle and prima facie it appears that the cycle rider has been killed in the blast. Police said, alert has been sounded in all areas of North Bengal while combing operation have been launched to arrest the culprits.

The attack is suspected to have been carried out by extremist outfit Kamtapur Liberation Organisation, KLO, which observed the martyrs' day yesterday. Formed in 1993, the KLO is fighting for a separate Kamtapur state comprising six districts of north Bengal and some areas of Lower Assam.
