In Uttar Pradesh five state excise department personnel including 2 excise inspectors have been suspended in connection with hooch tragedy at Ravidas Nagar Bhadohi and Varanasi districts in which 8 persons including 2 women have died.<br/><br/>Quoting official sources AIR correspondent reports that government has initiated a high level inquiry into the tragedy and has asked additional commissioner excise to conduct the probe. The Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati has expressed her sorrow over the tragedy and has asked for taking serious action against persons responsible for the incident. Meanwhile four persons have been arrested in this connection in Varanasi.<br/><br/>In Sant Ravidas Nagar Bhadohi and Varanasi districts some villagers under Chauri and Kapsethi police areas had taken spurious liquor from a shop at Shivdaspur in Varanasi district. Nearly two dozen of them were admitted in hospitals when their condition start deteriorated. Five villagers in Sant Ravidas Nagar and three in Varanasi districts have died till now. Nearly two dozen are still admitted in the hospitals.
