In Uttar Pradesh five senior officials of two sugar mills in Bijnore district have been arrested on charges of not initiating crushing work and attacking and holding captive officers of the state's sugarcane department.Quoting official sources our Lucknow correspondent reports that an FIR was lodged against the officers from Bijnore and Chardpur sugar mills under the Essential Commodities Act and for violation of conditions of the licence.The State Government had directed the sugar mills to start crushing work by the 15th of this month otherwise stern action would be taken in case farmers faced problems.
