The five-day Winter Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly began at Dispur this morning on a stormy note. As soon as the question hour began, the opposition members demanded the Speaker Tanka Bahadur Rai to constitute a House Committee on the issue of alleged anomalies in selection of Anganwadi workers in the State. The members belonging to Asom Gana Parishad, BJP, Asom United Democratic Front, CPI and CPI (M) rushed to the well of the House and raised their demand repeatedly. Nothing could be herd amidst the noisy situation when the ruling party members also started to altercate with the opposition members. The Assembly was discussing two questions on the issue of alleged anomalies in appointment of around 20 thousand Anganwadi workers under the Social Welfare department in the State.

The Assembly also took up a discussion an opposition-sponsored Adjournment Motion on the issue of price-rise during the Zero Hour in the House.
