A 5.9 magnitude earthquake has struck central Chile, about 129 kilometres north north-west of Concepcion. According to the US Geological Survey, the tremor was at a depth of 25 kilometres. It was in the same region where a massive 8.8 magnitude quake and ensuing tsunamis battered Chile a year ago ravaging towns and roads and killing hundreds. A spokeswoman for state emergency office said there have been no reports of any injuries or damage to infrastructure.
