An earthquake of moderate intensity rocked the Northeastern states of Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya at 8.46 this morning.The magnitude of the quake has been recorded as 5.8 in the Richter scale. According to official reports, the epicenter has been located on the Indo-Myanmar border.No reports of damage to life and property have so far been received. AIR Correspondent reports that, cracks developed in some high-rise buildings in Guwahati city following the impact of the quake that lasted for around 30 seconds.People came out of their houses out of fear. It was the second quake experienced in the State within one week.Mild tremors of the quake with epicenter near Chindwin River in Myanmar rocked Manipur creating panic. People ran out of their homes as the tremors lasted for about 15 seconds in the state. Sources from the Seismological Observatory Centre at the Manipur University in Imphal said, the quake occurred at a depth of 120 kilometres from the sea level.Tremors were also felt in Meghalaya, the seismic observatory in Shillong said the quake was epicentred on 95.3 degree east longitude and 25.1degree north Latitude.
