5.8 magnitude quake rocks Assam

An earthquake of moderate intensity rocked Assam and its neighbouring areas at 8.46 this morning.The magnitude of the quake has been recorded as 5.8 in the Richter scale. According to official reports, the epicenter has been located on the Indo-Myanmar border.No reports of damage to life and property have so far been received from any part of the State.AIR Correspondent reports that, cracks developed in some high-rise buildings in Guwahati city following the impact of the quake that lasted for around 30 seconds.People came out of their houses out of fear. It was the second quake experienced in the State within one week.
