A strong magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck the southeastern African nation of Mozambique on Saturday. The United States Geological Survey, USGS said the quake occurred about 40 miles northwest from the country's third largest city of Beira and lied at the depth of 6 miles. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The USGS says, Mozambique lies on a huge East African continental rift that is associated with shallow earthquakes.
