An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale shook Tokyo and other areas in eastern Japan on Friday. The meteorological agency said the quake took place at 9:46 am local time, and caused buildings to sway in Tokyo. The epicentre of the quake was in the Pacific off the coast of Ibaraki prefecture, 130 kilometres away from the capital. There are no immediate reports of any damage or casualties.
