In Japan, a moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Chiba Prefecture early Friday. Japan Meteorological Agency said, the focus of the quake, which occurred at about 6:06 a.m. local time, was located some 30 km underground in northeastern Chiba Prefecture. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to properties and no tsunami warning was issued.
