5.0 magnitude earthquake hits south Mexico

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck Ometepec, south Mexico last night. The tremor occurred at 21:28 local time with its epicenter about 8 km southwest of the city of Ometepec. There are no immediate reports of any casualties or damage. The earthquake followed Sunday's 5.5-magnitude tremor near Hidalgo city, also in south Mexico.
